Featuring two premieres:

The Beginner's Guide to Modern Dance

and

Things in the Sky

ONE PART WACKY AND ONE PART WONDERFUL!

Chaos Theory’s latest concert, going up this September, will premiere two new pieces:

Things In The Sky combines video imagery from astronomy and blends them with the earthly body, as dancers catapult themselves through space.  The piece journeys from dancers as observers of the sky as seen from earth, and then moves through the Solar System to finally encompass the larger universe of galactic clusters.  Dancers as planetary bodies, dancers as asteroids and meteors, dancers as star clusters and galaxies, all through beautiful lifts, turns, swoops to the floor and dazzling unison work.  Original music by renowned Cellist/Composer Stephen Katz.

The Beginner’s Guide to Modern Dance is a hilarious send-up to all things Modern Dance.  If you’ve ever had a spouse or beau who just didn’t “get” modern dance, this is the perfect dance for them, as the performers try to explain this wacky art form through the metaphors of sports commentating, and late night cable TV shows.  If you thought you knew Modern Dance, or if you thought thought you never would, this irreverent piece blasts the hallowed ground that so many hold sacred.  Original music by percussionist Michael DeQuattro.  Also on the program, will be:

in The "C" Word, this couple cannot make up their minds about whether they should commit to each other or not. And they've been going out for 15 years. Long-time audience favorite Lisa Travis returns to bring her very special brand of comedy to this dance about two people who are a little awkward in non-social situations.
