and other dances about science!
Chaos Theory’s latest concert, going up this April in the Boston area, puts our science dances all together in one very fun concert! From the fast-paced "The Butterfly Effect" to the hilarious T.O.E. Dance ("Theory of Everything"), Chaos Theory Dance will delight and inspire you!
Things In The Sky combines video imagery from astronomy and blends them with the earthly body, as dancers catapult themselves through space. The piece journeys from dancers as observers of the sky as seen from earth, and then moves through the Solar System to finally encompass the larger universe of galactic clusters. Dancers as planetary bodies, dancers as asteroids and meteors, dancers as star clusters and galaxies, all through beautiful lifts, turns, swoops to the floor and dazzling unison work. Original music by renowned Cellist/Composer Stephen Katz.
Presented as part of the Cambridge Science Festival, a celebration showcasing Cambridge as an internationally recognized leader in science, technology, engineering and math. A multifaceted, multicultural event every spring, the Cambridge Science Festival makes science accessible, interactive and fun for everyone! Founding collaborators are MIT, Harvard University, the City of Cambridge, the Museum of Science and WGBH. The festival's generous sponsors include MIT, Amgen, Microsoft, Draper Laboratory, CDM , Pfizzer, Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, the Mathworks, Schering-Plough, Cubist Pharmaceuticals, and Shire. www.cambridgesciencefestival.org
Along with all of the festivities of the weeklong festival, Chaos Theory Dance will present fun workshops (free!) for kids ages 5-2,000,000 (no one older than that, please) that day: 1:30-2:15 and 2:15-3:00 in Kresge Auditorium. Come learn "The Solar System Shuffle" and "The Constellation Tango"!
